about

G'day, I'm Sam, documentary filmmaker and content creator with fourteen years of experience working on all sorts of productions, from 2-hour feature-length docos to humble little 15-second social media snippets. My passion is capturing culture and I love creating character profiles... whether it's sitting somebody down for an interview or following people around with a camera, I just love it, it's great fun for me but also an opportunity to find substance in everyday life. For me, that's documentary storytelling.

Palm Beach on the Gold Coast is the sweaty paradise I now call home, but I grew up on a farm just outside of Bendigo, birthplace of the Chiko Roll. Following high school, it was on to Melbourne for studies/roaring early twenties, then to the Philippines for five years, where I lived in a fishing village and honed my camera skills (and grew up), then back to Melbourne again before moving to Queensland. Throughout that time, I ran my own production company, worked for multiple other production agencies, created hundreds of videos and interviewed more than a thousand characters. It's been a rollercoaster!

I'm always keen to take on projects that inspire, inform, explain or just entertain and I especially relish an invitation to film in the great outdoors, most especially in the wilderness. At any given time I'm working on a variety of commercials and docos as a producer, director, cinematographer or editor... sometimes all of the above. Other than that, I'm roaring and ready to rumble... so hit me up buttercup and let's make some bloody movies!
