services

I offer a wide range of video services, including short docos, event videography, social media packages and more. Since the dawn of (my) time, I’ve primarily collaborated directly with small businesses and organisations as a solo operator, often assembling a team for larger projects. For 2025, I’m excited to expand my horizons up in sunny Queensland and freelance as a director, DP and editor for other creative agencies too.

Documentary production and helping people shine and feel confident on camera are my strong suits, and I often weave elements of the doco genre into other types of videos to give them an authentic edge. For more details, check out the services I offer below and don’t miss the testimonial videos at the bottom of the page. They're great, I watch them twice a day ;)

01
Short Documentary

The majority of commercial short docos that I’ve created have been for businesses seeking to share their story, and they generally range from 5 to 15 minutes in length.

I typically work independently for videography and post-production/editing and I’m a multiple hats director, cinematographer, gaffer and sound operator on set when budgets are low. Budget permitting, I will rent additional gear where required and bring in collaborators to fulfil various roles to increase production value.

For the most part, the process includes understanding the story and context, then capturing sit-down interviews with key characters and filming overlaying footage of the relevant action, locations, events or services. From there, the next craft begins; bringing the story together in the edit and balancing humour with substance, information with context and all that with the right music, colour and pacing to create a tone and feeling.

For short docos, I’m happy to negotiate on price and fit into a budget (within reason) as they generally take between 7 - 25 days to complete, depending on content requirements and run time.

Social Media Package

From campaign videos to promotional videos, to showcasing products, locations and services… a social media package is all about generating sales and views through social media channels.

For this type of package, I generally spend one or two days filming and then several days to a week editing a main (hero) video and then shorter versions of that (cut downs).

A typical package;

  • 1 x hero video (2 - 4 minutes)
  • 1 x one minute cut down
  • 1 x thirty second cut down
  • 10 x 15-second cut downs

All videos are provided in multiple aspect ratios (16x9, 1x1, 9x16) for the differing platform requirements, and packages are tailored to varying needs. For example, you might like to create 60 x 15 second cut downs for 3 - 4 months of social media consistency. The video examples below are from a package that includes 10 videos; and that package is one of eight packages that I’ve created for Diacos over the past year.

Character Profile

These are short videos created about one individual, generally 1 - 4 minutes in length. Ideal for freelancers of any variety, community award winners, athletes, artists, politicians and really any type of individual that needs an introduction to the internet. Your cousin who won a camel pie eating competition? They’re an opportunity to elevate team photos to team videos on your company website, or introduce your personality hires to the world on social media.

Generally they take 2 - 8 days to complete depending on run time. Shorter time frames are achievable if multiple profiles are filmed in bulk. Its also important to note that if a character profile has no overlay footage and is, for example, as basic as 1 minute of pure interview content, this can be turned around in 1 day (filming, editing and celebratory pale ale included).

Company Profile

Similar to the character profile, in the sense that they’re generally 1 - 5 minutes in length, company profiles also incorporate the story and manifesto of the business itself; often including information about the staff, facilities, services, products, values and mission. I generally approach this in a documentary format, coupling interview content of founders, staff and customers with the overlaying business activities. Alternatively; footage coupled with professional voice over.

I would generally spend 2 - 3 days filming this type of video and 5 - 10 days editing, smaller businesses can be completed in half the time. Its all depends on the amount of content, locations and people that need to be included.

Events Package

Event coverage was once the backbone of what I did. I love it because it's fast paced and I get to fuel my extraversion through the shaking of hands and exchange of relevant banter. Over the years, my work in events has ranged from filming concerts for a few hours to filming youth camps in the wilderness for a whole week.

Congruent with filming the guts/activities of an event, my particular skill or strength is capturing vox-pop style interviews with the organisers and guests - documentary format strikes again! I just can’t help myself. In fairness though, it really is the best route to understanding the way people feel about a thing… and it’s the best way to keep an audience engaged with the visual content and message.

Typically, for an event, I’ll charge a half or full day of filming (depending on the schedule) and then several days of editing to produce a 2 - 3 minute video for socials.

Just Videography

Looking at you, video production company and marketing agency producers! Or anybody who already has the editing handled - I can simply rock up, film the goods and hand over the raw footage.

Just Editing

If you already have the footage or crew, and just need an editor - my editing suite and I have your back.

07
Big Budget

For larger scale productions and budgets, including feature-length documentaries and commercials, I generally take a producer/director position and organise a crew. The key personnel include the cinematographer, responsible for the camera department and aesthetic. The gaffer, in charge of painting the scene with lights, and the sound recordist, who can elevate the audible experience beyond the capabilities of any filmmaker.

To compliment this team, the next upgrade is the gear, including the camera itself. My Sony cameras are great, but nothing screams cinematic production value like an ARRI camera system. 150k - 200k to buy a working kit, but only a couple of G’s to rent - and you’re off to the Oscars. Please inquire if you would like to shoot for the stars.

Below is an example of a feature-length documentary that I recently directed. This was filmed on 14 cameras by a crew of 7, including the Canon C500 MII, Canon C70, Sony A7s3’s underwater, and DJI Mavic Pro 3’s from above. Blue Holes was filmed over a one year period and is now entering into post-production, aiming for a release on Disney Nat Geo. 🤞🤞

08
Miscellaneous

I also love a miscellaneous, nondescript video project. Come at me with your idea and let's see if we can make it happen… any excuse to whip out the vintage lenses and I’m all ears, baby.

09
Photography

My photography isn't the best but it will often be enough! It’s a different profession, and don’t let them tell you otherwise. Them = companies on LinkedIn trying to hire somebody who can do video, photography, graphic design, copywriting, babysitting and elephant keeping for 65k per year.

That said, I do have several photographers whom I work with often, so let me know if you need me to wrangle in an actual expert for a project (I don’t add a margin).

Rates

I don’t offer an hourly rate for filming; the minimum hire-out is a half day, which factors in preparation, pack up, travel (short distance), overheads, medication for back pain when I retire. I do, however, offer an hourly rate for editing. This is for very small jobs or draft iterations that often only require an hour or two.

Pre-production and scripting is most often not required, depending on the magnitude and complexity of the project.
